Embody the Full Moon in Scorpio with these Ritual Practices

If you’re interested in channeling the Scorpio Full Moon with mindfulness and ritual, I’ve outlined a few practices for you below.

Opposed with the Sun in Taurus, we’re reminded that there’s always a bigger picture at play. Scorpio is very intense and passionate, where Taurus is more grounded and laid back. Taurus is slow and steady where Scorpio is hot and heavy. Both signs value emotional depth and making life a joyous occasion.

About the Full Moon in Scorpio

Scorpio: fixed water, associated with the 8th house, big changes & rebirth, transformation & intensity

Taurus: fixed earth, associated with the second house, simplicity and abundance, finances & abundance, luxurious living, emotive ways of being

Folk Name: Flower or Growing Moon, energies of creative potential, new beginnings, and renewal

If you’re interested in channeling the Scorpio Full Moon with mindfulness and ritual, I’ve outlined a few practices for you below.

Get Your Head Out of the Sand

Both Scorpio and Taurus are fixed signs, meaning they love to dig in and achieve. Fixed signs are persistent. They are masters at creating energy, then sustaining it. This is great for getting things accomplished & taking care of business, but it can lead to a bit of “head in the sand” syndrome. Sometimes, fixed energy can be so tightly focused on what they’re “doing” that it can close us off from what’s around us.

Notice where in your life you may be retreating or numbing yourself to what’s around you. Can you slow down, get real and tune in this week?

Ritual Practice: Notice if you ever feel constricted while doing a task (this can look like physical tension, anxiety, setting unrealistic expectations, or feeling “not good enough.”) When this happens, close your eyes and take three deep breaths. Try to make your exhales longer than your inhales. Remind yourself that some things take time, and it’s important to ENJOY your life while you’re living it!

Prioritize simple & intentional

For this full moon, it’s important to realize & honor the value of intentional creation. Cut out the extra bull crap, and get so intimately aware of what you truly desire that you can know without a doubt when you’re stepping towards it versus when you’re not.

How can I simplify the goals and dreams that I have for myself?

Many of us view simple as “not enough.” Simple subtly translates to boring, plain, lazy, and unimpressive. But those opinions are rooted in the (mis)belief that we need external things to make us whole or make us happy. Simplicity means bringing you down to your true essence, which is divine, complete, and whole. Simplicity & austerity don’t have to be restrictive. On the contrary, oftentimes removing the extra noise can bring us closer to our center of creativity, passion & inspiration. By removing the unnecessary, we give room for new insights to come in.

Ritual Practice: Journal on the following prompts. How can I simplify the goals and dreams that I have for myself? If I could narrow my dreams & desired states of being into one word, what would it be?

Become ok with letting go

In order to create space, we must make room. This is the cyclical nature of Scorpio. Scorpio is the threshold of death and the light of rebirth. It’s neither good nor bad, it just is. As the Full Moon starts to shift now to its waning phase you may be feeling an urge to end something. Ask what thought patterns, fears or external distractions can be released so you can move forward.

Astrology resource The Cosmic Rx says “While some things may be uncomfortable, trust that whatever is coming up is going to help you step into your next chapter lighter and freer.”

This gives us a chance to step into the big picture. Sometimes we bog ourselves down too much with the granular and the day-to-day. We can only deal with what’s directly in front of us because we’re stuffed to the max with “to-do’s” and jobs and pressures. It becomes hard for us to remove ourselves for a moment to breathe & reflect. But your highest Self wants better for you.

Ritual Practice: Try a Yoga Nidra or “yoga of sleep” practice. Give yourself the time and space for at least a 30-minute practice. Light some incense. Lay yourself down on a yoga mat or a blanket, and use your headphones with a guided Yoga Nidra meditation. Allow yourself to release and relax completely. Then be sure to move mindfully through the rest of your day.

As I was writing this piece and listening to music this morning a Frankie Laine lyric stood out to me: I believe for every drop of rain that falls, a flower grows. I believe that somewhere in the darkest night, a candle glows.”

This is the promise of our Scorpio Full Moon. Even through the dark, you have a light to honor and a light to share.
