Prepare Your Outdoor Space For The Fall
Have you noticed that your yard and outdoor spaces have become a little unkempt as the summer season has flown by? With everyone from the kids, dogs, and adults playing games and enjoying themselves outside to the heat and elements affecting how the area looks, it is time for some outdoor TLC. Here are a few tips to get you started on preparing your outdoor space for the fall.
Clean up the yard.
The first thing on your to-do list should be to clean up the yard. Hand the wagon over to younger children in the family. Task them with wheeling the wagon around the yard while picking up any toys, trash that has blown in, and gardening supplies. Once they are done, they should put everything in its place.
Next, begin raking up the leaves that are beginning to pile up around your home. There are many methods to getting this job done, but the most important thing is to find something that is realistic, comfortable, and time-saving for you. Once you are finished wrangling the leaves into one area, you can begin the satisfying process of using a Worx leaf mulcher to mulch them into usable pieces.
Some of the ways you can use mulched leaves include:
- Flower bed mulch
- Insulation around trees, plants, and shrubs
- Natural fertilizer for the lawn
- Enriching compost piles
- Weed preventative
Pull all of the weeds.
Weeds are not only unsightly, but some of them have an unfortunate habit of overtaking your lush grass and flower beds. Prevent weeds by using an environmentally safe weed preventative or pulling them out as soon as you see them to avoid the potential for spreading and re-seeding.
Do your best to rid your lawn of as many weeds as you can before the cooler weather sets in. This strategy will help prevent the weeds from becoming further entrenched and more difficult to remove in the spring. Enlist your family and make it a fun challenge to see who can pull the most weeds. Let that person pick a movie or dessert place as an extra special job-well-done treat.
Bring on the fun!
Once you and your family have finished with the task of getting your outdoor space in order, you will all be ready for some fun. Consider enhancing your yard with some fun playground set to keep everyone entertained. This type of engaging and enjoyable play structure not only provides physical exercise for the kids but also brings a lively atmosphere to your yard.
If you do not have a fire pit yet, now is the time to invest in one. Keep the family working together for a little longer, and build your own custom fire pit. After everything is in place, bring out the hot dogs and s’mores for a relaxing evening around a toasty fire. Put on some music, turn on the twinkle lights, and enjoy the company of your favorite people.
