New Moon Meditation Ritual: 15 Minute Guided Meditation for Peace
Sierra Vandervort // August 5th, 2021
This is a New Moon meditation to help you let go and find peace.
When the moon is completely darkened in the sky, it’s called a New Moon. Energetically, this is a time for softness and reflection. As the nightsky is darkened, we’re encouraged to turn our attention inwards and reflect on what’s truly happening with our emotional and mental landscape.
New Moons are also a great time to set intentions. Intentions are a more holistic approach to “goals” or “to-dos.” Intentions include more than just what we want do do or what we want to accomplish. Intentions include how we want to feel and how we want to show up in our day-today life.
One of the most powerful energies of a New Moon is this energy of stillness. In our modern world, we spend so much time doing and going – quickly hurrying on to the next thing. It’s not uncommon for us to lose sight of the present moment completely, and instead see it simply as a means to an end.
A New Moon invites you to release that narrative.
A New Moon invites you to create space for simply being. It’s the energy of sitting on your front porch simply watching the world go by. It’s the energy of a gentle breeze rustling the leaves of a tree, or a soft current that keeps the stream moving forward. New Moons teach us that rest and reflection are essential for our growth and wellbeing.
With this New Moon meditation – I’m inviting you to step into that space of stillness, quiet and release.
For your meditation, set yourself up in a position that feels comfortable. You could be seated on the floor, in a chair or even lying down. Make sure you’re comfortable, but also that you can still remain alert. The meditation included below is best enjoyed with headphones so that you can remain undistracted and fully immersed in your meditative experience.

After you’re finished with your meditation, allow yourself to return to your daily activities slowly and with intention. You may choose to partake in some other New Moon ritual practices like journaling, divination practices, or taking a relaxing bath or a hot shower.
Remember that with ritual practices, these is no right or wrong. It’s all about what feels best to you and what’s going to help you feel most nurtured.
